Topaz aims to provide a comfortable and friendly meeting place and point of contact for local events for the whole community serving a selection of tempting fair trade teas, coffees, sandwiches and wholesome locally grown vegetarian food to tickle your taste buds without leaving a mark on your wallet!

We felt that Ashton was lacking a place for everyone to go and enjoy some time out but not necessarily in a pub or a bar.  We also felt that it was important that it was a space that everyone can feel a part of.  Topaz is a space for everyone, from students looking for a quiet place to study and check emails, or friends looking for a lively yet laid back place for lunch, with a full range of exciting activities from art workshops to yoga and all in between.



Topaz  brings  people from different backgrounds together in one place, forging new friendships that hopefully will blossom and grow beyond the doors of Topaz.

We aim to provide good quality food at prices that the whole community can afford.  Where possible all produce sold is fairly traded, organic and locally produced and sourced.  We try to ensure that our business practices are as environmentally friendly as possible by recycling, composting and reducing waste.

The café is run almost entirely by volunteers, and we couldn't exist without our volunteers and are always on the look out for new and exciting people to join us.

There are loads of ways to get involved and we ask all our volunteers to sign up to work one 2 hour shift a week in the café.  During your shift you'll be taking orders, serving drinks, cakes and snacks, putting stock on the shelves, washing up and interacting with our customers. All while helping us to maintain the friendly welcoming atmosphere in the Centre.

Stay with us a while and there are opportunities to get involved as a volunteer chef  or taking on more responsibility as a cafe helper such as opening and closing the café when staff are not around and even helping us with new volunteers.
