Welcome to Topaz, the well being centre brought to you by Tameside Oldham and Glossop Mind!

Many people, perhaps even the majority, develop emotional or psychological difficulties at some time in their lives. 1 in 4 people will have a mental health problem within the course of their life.

What we do..
Topaz is a not-for-profit organisation based in Tameside, which promotes well-being through social engagement and creative opportunities. Topaz works with individuals to achieve their goals and aspirations, promoting recovery, self-management and social inclusion in partnership with other agencies and mainstream organisations.

We now have a dedicated movement/ art studio, together with our traditional counselling service, our one to one service and a vegetarian/good mood food café with internet facilities. We offer a huge, exciting range of services and activities to the local community of Tameside and Glossop, from art to yoga and all things in between.

Escape..
The centre is also a working environment, encouraging people to get involved as volunteers, working in the café, sharing their expertise in many subjects and activities, helping people with the internet, and perhaps working in the kitchen, gaining qualifications along the way.

Our future ..

We are also hoping to be allocated an allotment, and here we will grow organic vegetables to use in our café, plus we will have a "Chill Out Space" with wild flowers and a seating area for people to relax, chat, enjoy a cup of coffee and take time out from their busy day.  We hope to offer a wide range of green exercise, eco-therapy and therapeutic horticulture in the garden, in conjunction with the local Countryside Warden Service. A recent report has shown that being active and being outdoors is proven to benefit our mental health and can play a vital part in recovery from mental distress.  We are sure that you will recognise the benefits of green exercise and healthy eating as part of healthy living.

The garden is to be a working environment too, allowing people to learn new skills and bring structure and routine back into their lives.
